Pattern Formation in Coupled Systems

24th October 2005
Newton Institute Seminar Room 1

Author: Martin Golubitsky (University of Houston)

In this lecture we will begin with a short overview of classical Pattern Formation theory in experiments and how these patterns relate to equivariant bifurcation theory. We will emphasize the role of spatio-temporal symmetries of time-periodic states. The second part of the talk describes patterns of synchrony in coupled systems of interacting dynamical systems.
