Governance

Valerie Isham, chair of the Scientific Steering Committee

INI is indebted to those that take a role in the governance of the Institute. These highly motivated volunteers selflessly give of their time, expertise and advice on the governing committees because they value what INI stands for.

The Scientific Steering Committee plays a vital role in the strategic direction of the Institute and in advising on and shaping its scientific programme. It has distinguished national and international members and meets twice a year.

The Management Committee is responsible for overall control of the budget of the Institute, and for its short-term and long-term financial planning. The Director is responsible to the Management Committee, which provides essential advice and support in relation to fund-raising activity, employment of staff at the Institute, appointment of organisers of programmes, housing, library and computing facilities, publicity, and general oversight of all activities of the Institute.
