The Institute has two seminar rooms:
There are blackboards just about everywhere in the Institute (including the lift and the toilets...). Seminar Room 1 has six boards (four horizontally, two more above the central pair). The four central boards are obscured by the main projection screen when it is in use; The two side boards are partially obscured by the relevant OHP when it is in use. Seminar Room 2 has two boards (one above the other). The upper board and the projection screen cannot be used simultaneously.
Both seminar rooms have OHP equipment. Seminar Room 1 has three screens which may all be used simultaneously. The central screen doubles as the projection screen for computer, video and film-slide. Seminar Room 2 has a single screen. It doubles as projection screen for computer, video and film-slide.
Floor-boxes and cables are provided in each seminar room for connecting a VGA-compatible computer monitor to a ceiling-mounted projector. A portable projector is also available upon request. For best results, connect the computer to the projector first, and then turn the computer on. The optimal screen display resolution is 1024x768.
A 35mm film-slide projector is available in each seminar room upon request.
Each seminar room has a video cassette player. The player in Seminar Room 1 can play PAL, NTSC and SECAM. The player in Seminar Room 2 only plays PAL. Playback of audio tapes can be done in both seminar rooms.
A radio microphone is available for use in each seminar room. Seminar Room 1 has a PA loudspeaker system, although this is rarely needed in practice. The microphone in Seminar Room 2 is only for recording. Both rooms are fitted with an Inductive Loop system for the hard of hearing.
