  2. Joint British Mathematical Colloquium & British Applied Mathematics Colloquium 2015

The joint BMC/BAMC will take place in Cambridge from 30 March to 2 April 2015 at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences. The event will include a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the LMS and confirmed talks by Roger Calderbank, Ingrid Daubechies, Jaques Dumais, Philip Hall, Sylvia Serfaty and Andrew Wiles. Pre-registration is now open at http://www.bmc-bamc.org.uk

  3. Funding for childcare from the London Mathematical Society

Junior Members may be interested to note that funding may be available to assist with childcare costs for UK based mathematicians from the London Mathematicians Society (LMS).

  4. Short Visits

Anyone from the UK can simply turn up at the Institute for up to 2 days without any kind of formal invitation. A brief email to info[at]newton.ac[dot]uk beforehand telling us when you intend to arrive will help us to provide you with some facilities for your short visit. Visits lasting more than 2 days require an invitation.

  5. Live Streaming of Seminars

All seminars and workshops at the Institute are streamed live, recorded and placed online for free download subject to the consent of the speaker. This collection forms a substantial resource for the UK mathematical community. All available seminars are listed on our seminar archive.

  6. Social Networking Sites

Just a quick reminder that the Institute can be found on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/newton.institute and on Twitter as @NewtonInstitute. Information on events and activities at the Institute and also special announcements will be made here.

This bulletin is sent in January, May and September each year. We hope you find it a useful way of keeping in touch and a helpful source of information to distribute to your colleagues. As always, the Director is very happy to receive comments or suggestions regarding the Institute and its activities, including possibilities for future programmes. Please email director[at]newton.ac[dot]uk. He would be very pleased to visit your institution to talk about the Institute, what's happening here, and to hear your views.

The next bulletin will be sent in September 2014...
