Housing

Information | Maps | Properties | Housekeeping | Housing for Families | Hotels and Guesthouses

The Institute has a selection of leased properties to house programme visitors. Please apply for accommodation by submitting a Housing Request Form. If you are unsure of the specifics of your visit i.e. dates, family visiting, etc.., do not hesitate to contact the Housing Officer to make initial enquiries.

  • Accommodation can be organised more efficiently once all the requests are received. Please submit your form as soon as possible.

For workshops and conferences, accommodation is usually automatically arranged as part of a package by the Visitor and Programme Officer. You will be sent details in advance.

Types of Accommodation Managed by the Institute

All our accommodation is of a good standard and fully furnished. Our managed stock consists of: a modern town house (shared) at Albion Row; four modern terraced houses (shared houses) and a block of 15 one and two-bedroom apartments at Benians Court; five one-bedroom and one two-bedroom apartments at West Cambridge and a one-bedroom apartment in the City Centre. Please note that all family accommodation is usually let for a minimum of one month.

General information on Rents

Cambridge is a popular place as it is both a university and a tourist city; consequently housing demand is great and rents can be higher than in other parts of the UK. In addition, it is not usually possible for the Institute to rent properties for precisely the period of a visitors stay, so in order to ensure that all visitors are housed, the Institute often has to pay rent on vacant properties for short periods.

Rents reflect the size of the property, location, length of stay, whether tenant is alone or accompanied and whether or not utility bills are included. In general, rates for shorter-term visitors are higher than for those staying for several months. Please see individual property for more information on costs.
