The workshop will cover recent experimental and theoretical developments in the field of active soft matter, including both biological and biomimetic applications, and ranging from self-propelled particles to active elastomers. The talks and discussions will elucidate unique features of complex dynamic phenomena in these media. This workshop will bring together experts in all the above fields, to compare and contrast the various them, to discuss topical and future problems and methods of their solution, and to explore possible applications.
Some sessions will be held jointly with the concurrent workshop on Liquid crystal defects and their geometry, active and solid liquid crystals, and related systems.

The registration fee includes admission to all seminars, refreshments on the days that lectures take place, wine reception and conference dinner, but does not include other meals or accommodation.
The Standard Accommodation Package includes a registration fee, bed and breakfast accommodation at Churchill College from the evening of Sunday 23 June 2013 to breakfast on Saturday 29 June 2013, together with lunches and refreshments during the days that lectures take place. The conference dinner is also included, but no other evening meals.
Participants on the Standard Accommodation Package or Registration Package, including organisers and speakers, are automatically included in this event. For all remaining participants who would like to attend, such as Visiting Fellows, programme participants or their guests, the above charge will apply.
The accommodation costs and registration fee may be waived for some junior applicants who are chosen to present a talk.
The Standard Accommodation Package includes bed and breakfast accommodation at Churchill College. Accommodation is single study bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities.
Lunch will be served at Wolfson Court in the Cafeteria from 12:30 to 13:30 on days that lectures take place.
Participants are free to make their own arrangements for dinner.
The Conference Dinner will take place at 19:30 on Wednesday 26 June at Lucy Cavendish College. Dress is smart casual. Participants on the Standard Accommodation Package or Registration Package, including organisers and speakers, are automatically included in this event. All remaining participants are encouraged to attend for the price of £40 each.
