Statistical modeling of gene expression levels
Seminar Room 1, Newton Institute
Abstract
Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology has revolutionized our ability to assay the genome, transcriptome and epigenome of multiple different organisms. However, to ensure that the data generated can be utilized to answer pertinent biological questions, it is vital that appropriate statistical tools are developed. In this talk, I will discuss some of the statistical challenges that arise when modeling gene expression measurements made using NGS. I will also discuss how current models will have to be extended and adapted as we move from studying gene expression levels measured across large populations of cells to measurements made at the single-cell level
