Quantum control has already lead to significant improvements in technologies ranging from magnetic resonance to prototype quantum computers, from quantum high-precision sensors to quantum logic clocks, from single atom transistors to quantum noise suppression in gravitation wave detectors. The recent Nobel prize-winning works of Haroche and Wineland are both underpinned by dedicated control theoretic principles. We are at the formative stages of a 21st Century’s industrial revolution centred around Quantum Technology, and it is natural to view quantum control engineering as an essential framework behind its development, crucial to problems of design, stabilization, error-correction, noise reduction and filtering, and combating decoherence.

This is the ninth international workshop on Principles and Applications for Control of Quantum Systems. Our aim is to bring together researchers in mathematics, physics, control theory, dynamical systems, stochastic processes, signal processing and information science to strengthen the community of quantum control.

As in previous workshops, all lectures will be from invited speakers, which will present recent developments at the forefronts of theoretical research, experimentation and motivating applications.

Registration Only

The Registration Package includes admission to all seminars, refreshments and lunches on the days that lectures take place (Monday – Friday), wine reception and formal dinner, but does not include other meals or accommodation.

Registration and Accommodation

The Accommodation Package includes a registration fee, bed and breakfast accommodation from Sunday 3 August 2014 to breakfast on Saturday 9 August 2014, together with lunches and refreshments during the days that lectures take place (Monday – Friday). The Formal Dinner is also included, but no other evening meals.

Formal Dinner Only

Participants on the Accommodation Package or Registration Package, including organisers and speakers, are automatically included in this event. For all remaining participants who would like to attend, such as Visiting Fellows, programme participants or their guests, the above charge will apply.


Accommodation in single study bedrooms with shared facilities, breakfast and lunches are provided at Wolfson Court, adjacent to the Institute..

Lunch will be served at Wolfson Court in the Cafeteria from 12:30 to 13:30 on days that lectures take place.

Evening Meal

Participants are free to make their own arrangements for dinner.

Formal Dinner

The Formal Dinner date, time and venue will be confirmed shortly. Participants on the Accommodation Package or Registration Package, including organisers and speakers, are automatically included in this event. All remaining participants are encouraged to attend at a charge (price TBC).
