Challenges in Radar ESM Processing

AbstractRadar Electronic Support Measures (ESM) systems are designed to detect, identify, locate and track radar systems by their emissions. This introduces several instances of problems that do not yield particularly well to classical mathematical analysis techniques. The proliferation of advanced radar systems and the increasingly cluttered spectrum means that industry must look to new mathematical frameworks in order to achieve performance levels required for operational equipment.
This presentation provides an introduction to ESM systems, the context in which they are used and some of the challenges that are faced in the processing and analysis of received data.
