Isaac Newton Institute: 1992 - 2017

This coming July sees the 25th anniversary of the first programmes to commence at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge. We are organising a range of activities to celebrate this important milestone. The first event - an audience with artist Nigel Hall RA - will take place at INI on the evening of 19 July 2017.  The principal event will be a full day of celebrations, also at INI, on 20 July 2017. The full details of both events are as follows:

19 July 2017

Starting at 17:30 (guests welcome from 17:00), INI will be hosting an open audience and drinks reception with artist Nigel Hall RA. Nigel, whose works are exhibited across the globe from New York's Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) to the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, will be joined by Dr Dorothy Buck (Professor of Mathematical Biology, University of Bath; co-organiser of INI's HTL programme) and Barry Phipps (Fellow and Curator of Works of Art, Churchill College). The event will examine the complex and inspiring relationship between art and mathematics, told via the medium of Nigel Hall's compelling geometric artworks. Many of these artworks - ranging from maquettes to framed drawings and a major outdoor sculpture - will be on display at the Institute. Attendance is free and open on the day, however if you would like to attend, we would appreciate you registering your interest here.

20 July 2017

Attendance is by invitation only.
