The calculus of combinatorial constructions and Hopf algebras

Date:
Tuesday 22nd January 2008 - 16:00 to 16:30
Venue:
INI Seminar Room 1
Abstract:

Bergeron, Labelle, and Leroux describe in their book a calculus of combinatorial constructions. This systemizes many of the constructions that lead to exponential generating functions. Many of the ideas are related to Hopf algebra notions; the talk will explore these connections.
