Abstract: 
As preparation for the forthcoming FOS workshops I will provide an overview of the challenges and opportunities in using Bayesian networks in legal arguments and, in particular, how they address fundamental limitations of the likelihood ratio based approach that is assumed to be 'best practice' with respect to Bayesian reasoning in the law.
