.This year's Annual Meeting of Correspondents will be held on Thursday 11 June 2009. A significant item this year will be a strategic discussion to help develop a vision for the Institute over the next ten years; your involvement would be greatly valued. Invitations will be issued closer to the time, but in the meantime please keep this date free.
Correspondents will already have received the email confirming the appointment of Caroline Series from the University of Warwick as the first Chair of Correspondents. Professor Series will serve for the two year term January 2009 - December 2010 and has been co-opted onto the Newton Institute Management Committee. The Chair of Correspondents represents the interests of the UK mathematical community and of the Institute Correspondents. Caroline will chair the annual meeting of Correspondents.

This bulletin is sent in January, May and September each year. We hope you find it a useful way of keeping in touch and a helpful source of information to distribute to your colleagues. As always, the Director is very happy to receive comments or suggestions regarding the Institute and its activities, including possibilities for future programmes: david.wallace@newton.ac.uk. He or the Deputy Director would be very pleased to visit your institution to talk about the Institute, what's happening here, and to hear your views.
