The NM Rothschild & Sons Professorship of Mathematical Sciences and Directorship of the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences

Applications are invited for the NM Rothschild Professorship of Mathematical Sciences from senior academics working in some branch of the mathematical sciences to take up appointment on 1 October 2016.

The successful candidate will also be the Director of the Isaac Newton Institute (INI), a national institute which promotes research of the highest international quality in the mathematical sciences for the benefit of the UK community, through major visitor programmes in selected, often interdisciplinary fields. The successful candidate will be a senior academic working in a branch of the mathematical sciences with appropriate administrative experience. The appointment will be for a fixed term of 5 years.

Candidates will have an outstanding research record of international stature in mathematical sciences and the vision, leadership, experience and enthusiasm to build on current strengths in maintaining and developing a leading research presence. They will hold a PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

Standard professorial duties include teaching and research, examining, supervision and administration. The Professor will be based in Cambridge. A competitive salary will be offered.
