Programme and Visitor Co-ordinator
Reporting to the Institute Administrator, the Programme and Visitor Co-ordinator (PVC) is part of an administrative team of fourteen at the Isaac Newton Institute in the University of Cambridge. Supervising a Programme and Visitor Secretary, the PVC provides support and facilities for up to 1,500 visiting researchers per year and, in consultation with the Finance Officer, assists the Institute's Administrator with the allocation of budgets for programmes and workshops. The PVC is responsible for the administration and reception of programme visitors and for event management and expenditure for up to 20 workshops per year, with up to 100 people each. This includes negotiating about accommodation and catering costs with colleges and with other institutions for each event.
Applicants should have a good general education with good passes in Mathematics and English, excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well at all levels both orally and in writing; excellent keyboard skills and a familiarity with electronic information systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and databases, with a capacity for accuracy and acute attention to detail; good time management skills, ability to multi-task and cope with tight deadlines; conscientiousness and an enthusiastic and flexible approach to working in a team and on own initiative;
Experience of a similar environment, dealing with senior academic staff, organising events, meetings and conferences; supervising staff and customer service delivery, would be useful.
