Making the bridge: Exploring new connections between number theory and physics

Information:

we have been made aware of a very convincing phone scam that is focusing on our workshop participants. Participants may be contacted by phone by a firm called Business Travel Management to arrange accommodation for workshops and/or programmes.  This includes a request to enter credit card information.

Please note, INI will never contact you over the phone requesting card details. We take all payments via the University of Cambridge Online store https://onlinesales.admin.cam.ac.uk/.

If you have been contacted by this company please contact us as soon as possible.

Workshop
4th May 2021 to 7th May 2021
Organisers:
Solomon Friedberg
Michael Green

Workshop Theme:

Connections between mathematics and physics have been a source of great progress in each area.  Recently, new connections have emerged between automorphic objects in number theory and parts of physics, including string theory and the statistical models of crystals.  This workshop is meant to serve as an introduction to these areas and these connections. It includes lecture series on four topics that are foundational: automorphic forms, mock modular forms, string scattering and automorphic forms, and number theory and BPS states.  The workshop is intended for researchers in number theory and physics, including graduate students and postdocs in these areas, who wish to learn more about these new connections.

Deadline for applications: 7th February 2021

Programme participants DO NOT need to apply, programme participants with visit dates during NCNW01 will automatically be added to the attendee list.

Please note members of Cambridge University are welcome to turn up and sign in as a non-registered attendee on the day(s) during the workshop and attend the lecture(s). Please note that we cannot provide you with any support including name badge, meals or accommodation.

In addition to visiting the INI, there are multiple ways in which you can participate remotely.
