Colour printing, scanning and photocopying facilities are all provided by a Xerox Versalink C7030 multifunction device located outside room M12 on the mezzanine floor. To learn more about how to set up your device on this system, please see below.
NB. Please be mindful to print in Black & White and avoid Colour unless needed.
Printing may not work if you are using a VPN. The INI-PARTICIPANTS-MFD is only accessible from “inside” the Institute. As a VPN tunnel makes your machine appear to be somewhere else. If your VPN client has an “allow LAN access” option, enabling it will allow you to print. Otherwise, you must temporarily disconnect the VPN before printing. You may reconnect after the job has been spooled.
A locally available IP Print Queue is available and can be installed by a member of the INI – Help Desk Team upon request via: support@newton.ac.uk
UPDATE: We have temporarily connected a direct USB Cable to allow the connection of Laptops running Windows and MacOS. It is possible to connect your laptop using the providing drop-cable and by simply pressing the MFD power button to ensure that the device is on; the device should automatically set up and add a connection to your computer.
NB: Windows installer software coming soon!
You can use a bash script to quickly install and configure the available printer:
curl -s https://www.newton.ac.uk/print/install | bash
If your machine uses CUPS (most do!) you may use a bash script to quickly install and configure the available printers:
wget -q -O - https://www.newton.ac.uk/print/install | bash
curl -s https://www.newton.ac.uk/print/install | bash
GET https://www.newton.ac.uk/print/install | bash
If you don’t have any of wget/curl/GET installed, you should be able to download the script in your web-browser by visiting the following page.
https://www.newton.ac.uk/print/install (opens in a new tab)
If you saved the script as a file named “INSTALL” then you can run it using:
sudo bash INSTALL
