Today, 3 July 2023, marks exactly 31 years since the Isaac Newton Institute was first opened to visitors.

Since that point, INI has hosted more than 180 research programmes, details of which you can find via the following link: https://www.newton.ac.uk/events/programmes-workshops/programme-archive/. Although the “official” opening – attended by the Chancellor of the University and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh – did not occur until 30 October 1992, it was on today’s date that the main building was first put to use by staff and visitors.
